Checking AC Units

We should give a little bit of love to the hard-working units that keep us cool while our hemisphere tilts closer to the sun. Your tenants are going to use these machines a lot more so that makes now the time to double-check that they are working as needed. Outside units need to be prepared for summer usage as well by checking the coils and coolant lines. You will also need to clear away debris from the winter so it has clear air flow. A well-functioning AC unit will not only keep your tenants cool, but will save you a ton of money by not having to replace a major appliance during peak season.

Gutter Cleaning

While not a deadly serious issue, this year is one to be constantly checking your gutters. As summers get warmer faster, it increases the pollen count for a longer and harder allergy season. It’s important to clear your gutters after fall to get rid of all the leaves and debris but pollen is just as dangerous, as it can oxidize. Some pollen is very acidic and leaving it be can and will damage your home. Make sure to clean your roof and gutters to prevent the acidic pollen from eating away at them at your expense.

Fire-Proofing the Yard

If gender reveal party disasters have proven anything it’s that you can’t truly fire-proof your life. The only thing you can try to do is limit the danger of it. If your property contains any grassy nooks that are your responsibility, check to make sure debris is cleared away. Dead plant life is just kindling that is waiting for a magnifying glass and a sun ray after all. Give the live organisms a good trim to limit their reach as well to ensure they’re away from power lines or cooking areas.

Summer Storm Planning

Now that spring is over on comes the height of summer storms, namely that of hurricane season. Even if you’re not in the traditional pathway of hurricanes, you should prepare for severe weather before it comes. This could be checking your property insurances, making sure all cracks are sealed to prevent flooding, checking how flood water should run in your properties with pumps and away from vital equipment, or whatever is needed for your specific properties. With summer rains you’ll also need to control rust on your piping and any outdoor electrical equipment.

While April may have nice spring weather with just a jacket to keep warm, it’s long gone by now. Summer is officially here with all the bugs, wood rot, and heat damage that comes with. It may be a rough go, but any property protection you can do from the worst of summer weather is better than none.
